How to care for an Agave
Agave is a sturdy succulent which is used to growing in dry and unforgiving conditions. The agave plant flowers once in its lifetime often after 10 years of plant growth. Once the plant flowers it dies. Agave plants are unlikely to flower in the home environment and can live to be beautiful, easy going companions for many, many years.Get one of these yourself!

Agave Blue Glow is a hybrid Agave developed in California by crossing Agave attenuata with Agave ocahui. Agave plants are succulents found in dry and desertic regions around the North, South and Central America. Known famously in Mexico for being the source plant for Tequila.

The sap of Agave is mildly irritating so watch your pets and children and the spiky leaves can be quite sharp so Agave is not a toddler friendly plant.

Being a desert plant, Agave does not require a lot of frequent watering. It is best to give your Agave a good drenching and then let the soil dry rather than multiple small waterings. Water with warm water especially in the Spring and Summer.

Sun, sun, sun. This plant loves sun. In the summer don't be afraid to move this plant outside onto a sunny balcony or deck. When inside close to a South facing window is best.

Feed every other week in Spring and Summer and not at all in the Winter.

Agave don't like to be handled too much; therefore, you should try not to repot too frequently - every two to three years. Fortunately they are slow growers so this schedule is perfect for them. Use a well draining cactus or succulent soil and don't cover the stem of the Agave with soil or it can rot.

Agave require very little cutting or pruning. If a leaf dies or looks off, cut it off at base of the plant.

Agave are a hardy plant and if treated well do not suffer many diseases or pests. The most critical thing to look for is that the roots are kept dry and in well drained soil. high humidity and wet roots will cause the plant to rot.
