How to care for a Crocodile Fern

Crocodile Ferns are natively found in Ozzie land (Australia). The plant derives its name from the unusual pattern on the leaves which resemble the skin of a crocodile. You also see them parading in front of wildlife photographers together. Quick snap a pic!

The soil that the Crocodile Dundee is growing in should be moist at all times and try not to place it in a small container. Small places can restrict its growth and damage roots. It might even make him spill his beer.

Indirect light works best for ferns. They can do with a bit of a darker spot than most other tropical plants as they are used to that environment in their natural habitat where ferns grow underneath the canopy of trees.

Feed this croc about once every two months with a generic tropical plant fertilizer.

Repot once a year or when you notice the roots start kreep up or out of the pot

Prune away any dead or yellow leaves as you see fit. This will train your croc to put energy towards new leaf growth. Happy croc, happy you!

Ferns aren't prone to many diseases but root rot is a real issue. Make sure to keep the soil moist at all times but don't over-water. Good drainage is key.
